July 29-August 1: Ages 12+

This four day (Mon-Thurs) intensive promises to be an enriching experience for those seeking to elevate their chamber music skills and explore performing in smaller ensembles. Under the guidance of seasoned instructors, participants will refine their ensemble techniques and collaborative skills. Daily activities will include sectional coachings, private lessons, masterclasses, and rehearsal time. Music will be dispersed to participants prior to the beginning of the program. The week will conclude with a final performance on Thursday afternoon for family and friends. This chamber intensive is suitable for ages 12+, as well as those with a minimum proficiency of RCM Level 5 or Suzuki Book 5. Jerzy Kapłanek, violinist

Internationally renowned violinist Jerzy Kapłanek has established himself as a chamber musician, member of the celebrated Penderecki String Quartet, soloist, dedicated teacher, adjudicator, artistic director of QuartetFest and lately as a jazz violinist. He performs throughout Europe, Asia, and North and South America over 80 concerts each season. He is frequently heard on CBC Radio and NPR. He has made solo appearances with the Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton, Peterborough and CBC Vancouver Symphonies and was a featured soloist at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Jerzy Kapłanek is presently a Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, where since 1991 he has been teaching violin and chamber music.

Ronald Beckett, composer

Ronald Beckett has had numerous compositions performed by ensembles throughout Ontario. He has written three operas that constitute a trilogy: Ruth, John, and I Am…. that have been given fully staged performances by Arcady and Queens Student Opera. Ron’s catalogue of compositions includes a number of additional large-scale works for orchestra or orchestra and chorus and an abundance of chamber music and pieces for piano and organ. Since 2008, he has written a great number of songs and music for youth, specifically for the Arcady Youth Singers. His works are frequently heard on classical radio in North America and Europe.
