After more than 10 years, conductor Jef ten Kortenaar will be leaving our podium, and the GYMC expresses our deepest gratitude for his hard work and caring for the Junior and Intermediate string orchestra.
Jef was part of the conductor search committee, helping to screen the eleven applications for the position, which narrowed down to live conducting auditions for four candidates over two Saturdays. While all of the final four were capable, the committee unanimously chose Tak Kwan, not only because of his conducting and teaching skills, but also his wonderful musicality, and warm, gentle manner. We are sure the kids will love him, and blossom musically with his guidance.
