Elementary Theory (RCM Level 4)

This engaging group class introduces essential music theory concepts for students of all instruments. Using The Royal Conservatory’s Celebrate Theory 4, students explore theory through practical activities, written exercises, exploration of repertoire, guided listening and melody writing. By integrating music theory with practical study, students develop well-rounded musicianship skills in an interactive and engaging way.
New concepts include:
- major and minor keys up to three sharps or flats
- transposition with change of clef
- minor intervals
- subdominant triads
- writing four-measure melodies
Each student will receive a workbook included with the course, based on the Royal Conservatory’s Celebrate Theory series.
Fall Session: Sept 28 – Dec 7, 2024
Cost: $300 (10 weeks)
Winter Session: Jan 18 – April 5, 2025
Cost: $300 (10 weeks)
Spring Session: April 26 – June 14, 2025
Cost: $210 (7 weeks)
